Have you ever heard about a unique partnership between two agencies and wondered, “How’d they do that?” If your answer is “YES”, then make plans to join Family Voices and KASA on Thursday, March 20, 2008, for a topical call that will introduce you to a partnership between Exceptional Parents Unlimited, a parent led organization and the Center for Independent Living, a disability led organization, both located in Fresno, CA. Working together, these organizations have launched two hugely successful teen and young adult programs—BRIDGES and SOAR, as well as collaborating on successfully involving parents into the project and agencies! We’ll learn about what’s worked and what the challenges have been. This is one learning opportunity you won’t want to miss!

02-28-2008 - Tradúcelo Ahora (Translate Now) with Diana Autin and Merecedes Rosa of SPAN
Through a grant from IBM, the Statewide Parent Advocacy Network of NJ (SPAN) has used the Tradúcelo Ahora (Translate Now) service to translate emails and websites from English to Spanish and Spanish to English. This call will discuss the various features of this service and the potential use by Family Voices and Family-to-Family Health Information Centers.

A presentation on organizational and leader vulnerabilities and how to prevent them from interfering with the growth and sustainability of an organization. Participants will apply techniques and approaches to customize a plan for their organizations for protection from external and internal risk factors.

An examination of the symptoms of risk and vulnerability within an organization and its leaders. Participants will screen their organization/leadership risk levels and begin guiding their organization away from risky behaviors.
