Your Help Needed to Support Increase to the Title V MCH Block Grant
Congress will soon begin the process of putting together the FY 2009 Labor, HHS, and Education Appropriations Bills that fund state MCH programs. Now is the time to contact members of your states delegation to tell them to support funding of $850 million for the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block Grant.Background: Before the spring recess the Senate passed an amendment to their budget resolution setting a non-binding recommendation to increase the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block Grant from $666 million to $850 million for FY 2009. Passage of this amendment means the stage is set for an increase, but now is the critical time for members of Congress to hear from you. Congressional staff often report to AMCHP the great importance of hearing from people at home about their appropriations priorities. If they dont hear from people in their state, they will focus on other priorities. Please keep the momentum and pressure on to increase the Title V MCH Block Grant by placing a call to your members of Congress today!Advocacy in Four Easy Steps· Step 1.
