Proposed Rule on Managed Care in Medicaid and CHIP
As reported earlier, on May 26 the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released a comprehensive proposed rule to set national standards for managed care in Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). See also this article from Kaiser Health News, this blog post from Health Affairs [new], and the June issue of the National Health Law Program’s Health Advocate, which summarizes some of the major provisions in the proposed rule, including improvements to network adequacy, grievances and appeals, quality and monitoring, and accessibility requirements. Public comments on the proposed rule will be accepted until July 27.
