This Week in Washington DC Update:
- Congress is trying to wrap up the second session of this two-year Congress (the 114th) and enact a bill to keep the government operating.
- The Senate is expected to pass bipartisan "21st Century Cures Act," which passed overwhelmingly in the House and is supported by President Obama.
- Some in Congress are developing legislation to repeal parts of the Affordable Care Act early in the new term.
- Open enrollment period ends on January 31. In most states (except Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Washington state) consumers must enroll in a health insurance plan no later than December 15 for their coverage to begin on January 1.
