Family Voices Washington DC Update: May 3, 2017
There are two major issues in Congress this week:
- Legislation to fund the government for the remainder of FY 2017 (through Sept. 30, 2017): This bill is expected to be passed by Congress and signed by the President.
- The American Health Care Act (H.R. 1628), the bill that would repeal/replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and significantly restructure and cut the Medicaid program: The fate of this bill is up in the air as of this writing (Monday night).
In other news, the administration: (1) announced the appointment of a new Administrator for the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA); and (2) issued a final rule that changes policies on the Affordable Care Act's open-enrollment period, Special Enrollment Periods, oversight of network adequacy, and other health-plan policies.
