Family Voices Washington DC Update: June 30, 2017
The drama continues. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) postponed the vote on the "Better Care Reconciliation Act," the Senate's version of legislation to "repeal and replace" the Affordable Care Act (ACA). He had hoped to hold the vote before the July 4 recess, but was unable to assemble the votes needed to pass it. He will work over the recess to try to craft a bill that can garner enough votes, and hopes to bring it up for a vote during the week of July 10. He has indicated that any revised bill will still include a restructuring of the Medicaid program to cap and cut the federal payments to states. Read more here.
