Advocating for Your Child
Advocating is doing whatever is necessary to make sure your child/youth gets what he or she needs...and what you need as a family to support and care for your child/youth. When you have a child/youth with special health care needs, advocacy may be more challenging. Your child/youth’s health and quality of life may be at greater risk because of a chronic illness, condition, or disability. With so much at stake, families and children themselves need to develop skills and knowledge to become effective advocates.
